Hallelujah. The John Cale Cover.

I have been listening to this song on loop for about an hour now. You may have seen it during an episode of Scrub – which is where I heard this particular cover version of the song.

I could listen to it all day and all night. There’s just something about Cale’s vocal quality and his pronunciation of ‘Hallelujah’ and the lyrics that makes me melt and want to cry. It’s just so beautiful.

“Love is not a victory much, it’s a cold and it’s a broken hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.”

Autocad is Illustrator on Crack.

This has become my new favorite phrase as of late. I spent about 3-4 hours yesterday getting trained in the basics of Autocad at work and today I spent 8 hours cleaning building diagrams in said program. (Did I mention I’m an administrative assistant?)

Anyway, it’s a decent enough program – the input system is horrid and archaic, but it does allow you to control all the widths and use measurements that you could probably do in Illustrator but with much more headaches.

In either case, apparently I’m picking it up quickly. Hurrah. But I swear that hidden files that I can’t see even when the layer is ‘on’ are going to be the death of me. They’re so evil. *_*

And Sweeny Todd is addictive.

In other news, I’ve been listening to the Sweeny Todd movie soundtrack on loop since I first saw the movie. It’s sooo wonderful. Go buy it. It’s worth it.

Okay, so a few weeks ago I took advantage of the single of the week or discovery download or whatever from iTunes, and downloaded Car Crash by Matt Nathanson from the album “Some Mad Hope”

This song is gorgeous. I highly recommend checking it out if you get the chance.

I want to feel the car crash
I want to feel it capsize
I want to feel the bomb drop, the earth stop ’till I’m satisfied

Click for all the lyrics:

Car Crash

I’m wide awake and so alive
ringing like a bell
tell this is paradise
not some place I fell
cause I keep falling down

I want to feel the car crash
I want to feel it capsize
I want to feel the bomb drop, the earth stop ’till I’m satisfied

I want to feel the car crash
’cause I’m dieing on the inside
I want to let go and know that I’ll be alright, alright

just push me till I have to fly
I’ve shed my skins, my scars
take me deep out past the lights
where nothing dims these stars
nothing dims these stars

I want to feel the car crash
I want to feel it capsize
I want to feel the bomb drop, the earth stop ’till I’m satisfied

I want to feel the car crash
’cause I’m dieing on the inside
I want to let go and know that I’ll be alright, alright

it’s all right
it’s all wrong

I’m wide awake and so alive

I want to feel the car crash
I want to feel it capsize
I want to feel the bomb drop, the earth stop ’till I’m satisfied

I want to feel the car crash
’cause I’m dieing on the inside
I want to let go and know that I’ll be alright, alright

’cause I’m open wide
so wide
so wide

To think that the women who sings “Misa’s Song” from Death Note is the same as “Lost my Music” & “God Knows…” from the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya are the same person is amazing – you can hear it; but the vocal qualities are just so different.

But, since I’m on a DN kick, we’ll stick with “Misa no Uta” or “Misa’s Song.”

“Misa no Uta”:

First of all – I love the breathy, almost airy tone that she has while it’s being sung. It gives that slightly morbid, eerie tone while still sticking with a slightly upbeat, almost child-like song. I’m almost reminded of a fair or a carnival, a merry-go-round if you will; It creates a lovely picture.

Speaking, the scene in the Death Note Anime that this came from was striking as well. It was beautifully animated and had a very nice feel to it – so check out episode 25 if you want to see an anime extra (as in not in the manga) done very well.

But, if Misa’s not your thing – definitely check out Hirano Aya’s “God Knows…” and “Lost My Music” – they’re more upbeat and rockish; very catchy. ^_^

“Futari ni God Bless…” – “God Knows…”

“Ki o tsukete. Kami-sama wa miteru…” – “Misa no Uta”

“There’s a Fine, Fine Line” from the Broadway Play, Avenue Q. (Performance by Stephanie D’Abruzzo)

I’ve been listening to this song on loop for quite some time now. It’s just a gorgeous song and I love it. As one of the more serious songs from the Avenue Q soundtrack, you’d think that it was out of place – but it fits in so well with the themes the play had been setting up. The lyrics are simple, yet effective and D’Abruzzo’s voice does a wonderful job with it. I recommend it and the rest of the soundtrack as well. ^_^

There’s a fine, fine line between a fairy tale and a lie;
And there’s a fine, fine line between “You’re wonderful” and “Goodbye.”
I guess if someone doesn’t love you back it isn’t such a crime,
But there’s a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of your time.

Just started watching the anime Kiba as of late and I can say that I’m impressed. After I heard that it was an anime that had a counterpart card game, I was expecting something along the lines of YuGiOh! or Pokémon (Not that I don’t enjoy those shows. ^^) but I was suprised to find it quite enjoyable. It has a good plot with well designed and interesting characters. I have much love for the Zed and Noa.

But, the thing that impressed me the most by far is the Soundtrack. It’s amazing – It’s got a really nice feel to it and reminds me a little bit of the .hack//sign soundtracks. Well worth a listen and varies from upbeat to calm and quiet.

Personal favorites that I reccomend: “Zed-Fate” from the OST 1, “Zed-Run” from OST 1, “Noa-Calmness” from OST 1, and all the OP and ED themes.
