Ben Doesn’t Appreciate The Help

Oh Éclat, you’re working your way up on the jerk meter. Poor Ben.

Hmm. Only three entries to the Pair-A-Thon! Let’s keep um’ coming!

Not sure what else to type. XD I’m on a total Watchmen high so Rorschach and Nite Owl II own me at the moment.

Song Listening Recommendation:

“Room of Angel” by Akira Yamaoka

I like the way Éclat’s smiling in the last panel, it almost doesn’t make him look creepy, almost but not quite.

Woman hater or not, I still adore him. <3 I like how he's being almost encouraging about Ben's abilities, then pointing out his faults. XP

I think he’s less a woman-hater, than just trying to mess up Ben’s love life on purpose… One of the reasons Ben wants rid of him so much.

love, para

Eclat strikes me as a combination of Edwardian Gentleman-Thief, Greaser, and Politico-Industrial Anarchist. I’m calling for pre-enchantment background on him, stat!

Poor Ben. He’s drawn his lot as Liliy’s new chew toy.

Child of the French Revolution. XD (He got a pre-sword sketch in the ustream last night over at DA~)

Well, isn’t that something? Apart from the “Greaser” bit, I called him! It only took four years for my ponderous mind to dimly start reading your style. >_<

Does this mean Robespierre is going to make an appearance at some point in WAM? That's one human monster I wouldn't mind seeing. He might be one of Arthur Sr.'s role models, even.

Robespierre was a crazy man drunk on power putting on a reign of terror that doubled as the greatest circus ever. His drive to push the envelope with his shtick was his undoing.

….I don’t think Liliy is willing to write crazy murderers doing lots of murder without blinking. The gore and morality involved on would be intimidating. If I’m wrong though….

Did you happen to forget about Grace and Azræl? They’re crazy murderers(in a way), Grace especially.

How many people have we seen the villains murder during the entire story so far? None.
I don’t think it’s controversial to say that Liliy has so far preferred to inform that her monsterous characters are monsterous over treating such tendencies graphically with no punches pulled in, “Show, don’t tell,” manner. If she had we’d have seen it complete with full gore and certainty that Wiglaf has compromised his heroic status and mission by allowing these people freedom to commit more crimes.
If I were to guess why she hasn’t done that it’s because the comic is about strange relationships between strange people instead of focusing on the war, murder and genocide aspects of the Garrott family’s existence which we are told about but not shown. (Wiglaf magically stops them without anybody dying perhaps.)

Most of it is to keep the Pg-13 rating that things happen off-screen. XD Azrael probably counts though, as the only one to actually kill anything on-screen. I mean, he was stabbing people to death while holding a conversation. XD And Sedrick shot Gawain in the head a couple times…

Hmmm. Another reason I’m overdue to re-read the archives, I don’t remember seeing actual, unequivocal slaughter there but instead just stabbing (which we’ve been told Azrael can do without killing people) and one of the Valkyries knocking someone with a backhand.

Az was on a pile of dead guys after Mordred found Bliss. Does that count? :raisebrow:

Actually, it was just one very large guy, and I think he was still alive(you wouldn’t gag a dead guy would you?) He looks pretty alive to me, don’t you think? -http://liliy.net/wam/archive/say-thanks-already/

Yeah, and if I recall correctly (the Terror was my favourite part of history class) the leader of the Girondin (sp?) had a nasty skin condition. If their clothes don’t clean up after death, I doubt their skin would.

omygod, I’ve decided, I love these two. they’ve only been in two posts but I love them. They’re both just sooo.. Sooo… awesome! and Eclat’s outfit reminds me of the like, midevil attempt at rebel/rockstar style, and I just love it!
Ahaha, oh gosh, maybe it’s the parathon madness getting to my brain, but Eclat sounds like a jealous boyfriend with he girl talk. or a jealous wanna-be-Ben’s-boyfriend. … sorry, it’s too early for me to think.. normal… lols

So what are these two’s names? Because I think I almost like them as much as Azrael & Grace. Maybe they will work up to rival it. That Puppet line is just killing me.

Ok, I’m confused about something(and it’s totally off topic for this page oh well), since Arthur and Janus are twins, they should be the same age, but on the cast pages it was Janus listed as 31 and Arthur as 28(with 31 written before it and crossed out. How is Janus 3 years older than Arthur?(At least, I thought I had read somewhere they were twins-which was why they looked like copies of each other)

I love Eclat’s French Revolution-era-inspired costume. He also reminds me of Puck in Midsummer Night’s Dream–full of mischief and amusing pranks. XD
