PAT2011 – 03 Brat x Mordred

Roses
by Blackford

Vibrant and bright, the pink rose blossomed and grew,
For this was the maiden called Brat, a flower like very few.
It was the black rose that was the object of her pursuit.
This was Mordred, in whose mind villainy took root.
His nefarious ways Brat found fascinating and wild,
Though Mordred had no use for the silly child.

A great yawning chasm separated the pair,
Like a crack in the earth belching flames through the air.
She was as irrepressible as he was morose,
And her romantic cheer was a source of his woes.
Never merry or fond, Mordred turned from the girl.
But Brat’s love only burned brighter with crackles and swirls.

She said he was brilliant, and told him he’d conquer the globe.
He’d surely be crowned king and be clad in robes.
Despite himself, Mordred was somewhat flattered,
And he decided to secure the one thing that mattered.
Surmising that Brat could be a useful underling someday,
Mordred made certain to feed her passionate ways.

He acquired a creation from his friend Lancelot,
Something that would give Brat the hope that she sought.
It was a rose whose petals were both black and pink,
Symbolizing their union (or at least Brat wanted to think).
With this little gift, Mordred vaguely hinted
That Brat’s loyalty might earn her his interest.

The pink maiden took the rose with excitable glee,
Placing it in water, with its pink and black petals for all to see.
Thus did Brat’s hopes remain alive
That she and Mordred would breach their divide.
And so her romantic trek lived on,
Forever seeking to steal his heart anon.

That’s pretty creative, and makes an awful lot of sense in the characters’ canon behaviors. Nice work, Blackford.

What style did you write this in? It looks like a meld of two traditional styles I know.
