Close, but not quite creepy enough to capture how much Azrael was distorted, molded and brainwashed by Grace.
Needs more flying blood-spray and bloodstains maybe? I dunno, I’m throwing out a totally untested suggestion which might just end up gilding the lily.

I’m not going TOO deeply psychological or metaphorical here. I’ll save the blood and gore for next time.

Maybe for Brat x Grendel.

Brat… and… Grendel? The cast page isn’t helping me out here and I don’t remember one of those except for there being one in the (comic-inspirational) Beowulf.

But it sounds like a nifty idea and I’m not just saying that because my dream ending of the comic has all the characters murdering each other.

Grendel is the little puppy that appears in some ustream sessions and, Word of God has it, will sometime appear in the comic.
Oh yeah, Grendel will be Mordred’s.

Congrats! :D

Not that I’m the least bit surprised ^_~

Yeah, if Aja had made time to make an entry this year it would may have been a different story but we’ll have to save what-ifs for fanfiction and next year right?

Congrats on a deserving entry Eren.

Actually I was pretty surprised that I won. There were a lot of entries I thought were more creative, cleverer, better-executed than mine – I had a really hard time narrowing MY vote down to just one, and was wishing I could vote for more. I think everybody did an awesome job, and I’m flattered that the voters chose my entry. Thanks for the congratulations.

I don’t take your comment personally – and I probably shouldn’t say anything because it’s on my own entry – but I’ll speak up because it bothers me on principle: “You probably only won because X person didn’t enter,” is a really nasty thing to say. I’m not sure if you mean it to be funny, but it comes off more as inconsiderate and rude. Liliy puts a lot of effort into interacting with her readers and holding contests like this, and all the participants put a lot of work into their entries. At least in my opinion, making comments like that is disrespectful to both her and them.

With apologies to Liliy if I’m overstepping propriety here.

You make an entirely understandable misreading of what I tried to say here, and I am more irritated at being called on to explain a hastily written compliment with a typo in it than offended that you interpreted it that way. That’s my fault for being more brief and hasty than clear, so I’ll try to clear that up:

“Did you mean to say I only won because Aja didn’t enter, or that I didn’t deserve to win?”
No, that’s not what I meant at all. I meant that this entry had the most competitive combination of skill, choice of technique, attractive use of colour and strong effort at finish. There were plenty of other good entries–I didn’t give out a compliment to every good entry because that’s not something I generally do–but I think your particular entry won because yours was the good effort made in the most predictably-popular way and there would have had to be more people with strong skill and motivation doing something similar for it not to have been the favourite horse in the race.
No I didn’t say (or mean to say) that you didn’t deserve to win or that you wouldn’t have won if X-other-artist-with-many-fans had shown up.

Is the misunderstanding sufficiently bludgeoned we can get out the shovels and bury it yet, or is it still growling and fighting?

Yes, that’s what I interpreted your comment to mean, though I’m not sure what you’re saying was a typo. I felt the need to reply because what you said, regardless of intention, came off as very backhanded for a compliment. It bothers me in general when people make statements without consideration for whether they’re possibly going to offend someone, and I just wanted to point out that what you said could be construed as offensive – which is especially not very nice when you’re commenting on somebody else’s community website. Maybe the fact that it’s on my own contest entry takes something away from my intended meaning, but then I don’t want to start potential arguments on someone else’s artwork comment thread, either. Whether you thought my entry deserved to win or not doesn’t concern me – what bothers me is that you were being potentially insulting to Liliy’s contest participants.

As for the actual content matter of the comment (and Megami’s, for that matter)… given that there are no specific judging critera for the contest, everyone’s going to judge the entries their own way, but in my own opinion there were plenty of entries that had enough wit, creativity, and general sense of awesome to hold their own against something with first-glance shiny technical skill, and to say that mine was a shoo-in for the winner is doing them a disservice. In my opinion.

That’s all *I* was trying to say, so if that’s communicated effectively this time then yes, I’m finished.

A lot of people have trouble making themselves understood properly even when speaking in person, and the most gifted writers can never be perfect since no person ever is. In light of that I’d suggest that everybody never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by incompetence.
Also: A comment from an anonymous person on the internet is worth as much as you decide it’s worth and no more. If it wasn’t I’d have been driven nuts by idiots on Slashdot long before now.

Anybody who bears those two things in mind should do just fine against any insult–intended or not–they may read in what I write.

Well, yes, typos and slipups are one thing. Tactlessness is something else.

Either way, that’s a pretty irresponsible way to look at things, if you really believe all that. Especially on a fairly benign forum.

Just something it might benefit you someday to think about.

Please accept that if Liliy had wanted me to go away she and her staff could manage this at any time in a number of ways, including by directly asking me to go. As far as I know they haven’t yet.
If you really think she should be bothered by what I write bring it to her attention; I’m sure she must have a pretty robust staff ability to deal with these problems considering I’ve never seen a spam on her website.

Speaking of Liliy~

Let’s officially declare this conversation over, okay? :) Would rather nip this in the bud before it actually starts to get nasty between the two of you. Please & Thank-you!
