All In The Name

Ah ha ha.

Really proud of Panel 2.

Hmm. What to talk about…not sure. XD Drawin’ a blank here.

Oh wait.

This is a doodle that happened during the Usream. I seriously have Watchmen on the brain – though it’s Lunar’s fault. XD  He’s the one who was shocked I hadn’t already drawn it.

Oh dear. Ben should start running, now.

Éclat referred to Grace as Second Sword, the swords have an order then? I wonder which one Éclat is, is he first sword or third?

Reply

…Wait, if all Éclat needed to tell Ben what Grace’s power was, was for someone else to say Grace’s name(in this case Azie), then how come Grace was unable to tell Azræl about Bliss’ power earlier when Azzie heard the name of the artefact(from Hagen and Gawain, then Grace after words)?
O_o I’m confused now!!

…Grace is a jerk?

Ha Ha. Just kidding. The rules have just become very complicated to cover up any continuity errors that may have just occurred. :D (In this case: Objects of the same type have fewer restrictions concerning each other. XD)

OH. So Eclat IS a sword. I had a weird thought last night that maybe he was a wooden stake. Then maybe he’d be a religious stake = burning at the stake = Brightness.
Too much cheese late at night 0_0

I had cheese cake last night too! ^_^ I love Ben’s Fear… I don’t know I just love frightened long haired adorable men… Hum… Can I have him? Just… you know… for display purposes? Heh^_^:

I suppose you do have to negotiate with Liliy for borrowing rights if you think he’s just that hard to substitute with anyone or anything else. That said, one thing she’s probably waiting for is someone to do a pair-a-thon entry for Azrael taking advantage of Ben.

I agree with Azzie there, but applied to the whole comic in general! Not that it wasn’t really fun already, but I didn’t even expect to ever learn this much about Grace and his “family”, so I’m very much intrigued, yes sir!

Eclat – Is it just me or does he come off as a cross between a sleazy lawyer and the Encyclopedia Magica? Outside of a weaselly personality, I wonder what other powers and abilities this one has?

Just a word to the wise when it comes to order, just because something is the second in a series does not imply that it is the most powerful – Cue Dexter’s lab quote “My greatest invention ever”

Question about the doodle: Is that doodle of the fake squid-monster that Ozymandias teleports as part of the original comic’s grand plot conclusion?

Dictionary savvy question: Just how much smug, preening, vain, undeserved self-confidence and recklessness is Éclat prone to?

Reply

Regarding Doodle Question: >_>…<_<… Hush, you!

Regarding Thesaurus-Savvy Question: Happily, the ubiquitous "they" don't seem to have invented a large enough measure for that. Yet. But he seems to have a good deal of well-earned self-confidence, too. The trick is telling the difference.

Heh, that’s a spoiler to you? Well now I have to play with this:

Adam and Eve totally get kicked out of The Garden of Eden in The Bible too. :lol2:

That wasn’t up to your usual par for repartee; are you feeling OK?

No, I am hideously overworked and no small amount oppressed. I’d explain but why depress people with personal details that might compromise my anonymity?

Understood. Just let us know if there’s anything we can do to help you.

Thank you for the offer, but it’s the price I pay for working consultant hours while trying to get the B.Sc. I neglected to pick up straight out of high school. No rest for the wicked, gotta keep working on the karma until I’m allowed some sleep.

This may have been asked and answered already, and I apologize if it has, but Grace’s power has been bugging me for a while now.

Does it move the wielder TOO 98% of an opponents overall strength. Or is it an increase BY 98%?

In the first case, one would still need brains and skill to match up to any opponent, because you will always be weaker than your opponent. In the second case, well, that might be a bit overpowered if it were in the hands of someone like Wiglaf :P

Reply

I think the first one, it moves the wielder TOO 98% of an opponents strength(which is how Azzie was able to keep up with Wiglaf in fights.)

Reply

I think it’s actually a mix of both. It would move you UP to 98% of their strength, but if you were already there or stronger your strength wouldn’t be lowered. :$

Reply

I thought Liliy explained this at some point? It was…somewhere. That it boosted the wielder’s power to 98% of the opponent’s, and that the remaining 2% had to be the wielder’s own effort.

I wonder why Ben had to go through the trouble of wrapping Eclat up? Since it doesn’t effect his ability to float around and chit-chat I’d have to wonder if Eclat [as a weapon] has a similar magic system to Bliss, where the ability he has affects a region? Or perhaps anything that sees the blade? This has been bugging me since he first showed up.

Reply

When Grace’s magic was cancelled by Bliss, we (and Azrael) were still able to see and hear him. Which tells us that their powers being nullified probably doesn’t affect the presence of the spirit… it just makes them powerless. All they can do is float around and be whatever flavor of annoying they happen to specialize in.

Since this helpful post of helpfulness spells the end of my lurker status, I should also say hi to the author, I guess? Hi, Liliy!
