Given that we don’t know WHEN Gwain died originally and when he became a zombie, he very well could remember it.

My dad DID walk through hip-deep snow uphill to and from school. Each day! see, the house is at the bottom of a hill and it took less time to walk over it than around. The school was on top of another hill, so you’d go up a hill, down it, and then up a second hill. So… it WAS uphill both ways! ;)
