Bad Company

I did some promotion today by appearing on TGT Webcomics. Of course today’s strip isn’t colored yet. XD What do you people think I am? Efficient?

Anyway~ Grace is so much fun to write. He’s such a jerk. Tee hee.

And children are hard to draw. *twitch* Young Azrael hates me. *sighs* Ah well. At least I got to draw him in his scarf again. (Which btw, is an ode to Cyborg 009 – a great Anime. :D) I wuv Azrael’s scarf. It needs to come back…*cackles madly*

Uh…yeah. :D

It’s neat seeing Azrael as a boy again. We get to see how he first starts to admire his sword’s beauty. And we get further confirmation that Grace the Phantom is magically bound to the sword in some way.

Oh my. I think I’m in love with Grace.

This arc is also, so far, making me love Azrael far more than I had. I’m just a sucker for the creepy and abused, I suppose.

Ah-HA! So it’s the evil grandfather’s fault!
I finding myself loving and hating Grace at the same time. No wonder Azreal is such a nutcase!

yeah. after reading through the archive and Azrael seems to well…. love Grace. which… makes the fast he’s a really creepy ghost…. a jerkish creepy ghost….. really disturbing….
i need to get away from y-gallery >.>

Liliy, your TGT Webcomics appearance was awesome. You did a good job fielding some of those questions at the very beginning, and then you hit a great stride in the latter two thirds. That was a neat story about how you acquainted with N.J. Huff, and you made me laugh with the anecdote about your brother.
Very cool! Nice work. Do you enjoy doing interviews like that?

Grace has an interesting fixation on pseudo-logic. His line, “Threatening me with myself won’t help you much.” is interesting, as you couched it in his determination that Azrael’s Grandfather does not like the kid very much. That says a great deal about his seemingly-demonic psyche.

I think it was fun. Though I did a lot of blanking with what I wanted to say. XD

Yeah. I think Grace is just amused right now with the whole situation; that kid is clueless. :)

But isn’t that when Azreal is the most adorable in the first place? For a deadly swordsman plagued by the companionship of an otherworldly wraith, he’s surprisingly naive.

Grace strikes me as the sort of character who makes you stare at the blank page going “uhhh…” at first, but then once you get in his head (so to speak) it’s like “duh!”.
Sorry if that didn’t make sense. My coherency varies on the amount of sleep I’ve had in the last twenty-four hours.

Well, it turned out fine from a listener’s standpoint. Do you find it more or less helpful when the interviewer provides you a basic set of the questions s/he plans to ask?

Something tells me that Azrael’s going to start getting a little messed up when Grace starts explaining what’s going on. You planned this really well: going back through the archives, I’m picking up on a bunch of abused child cues. But then there is a handful of adored child cues… it’s making me wonder if Azrael dissociated as a result of his experiences.

I wonder what Brat would think of Grace if she could see him.

Knowing questions before hand is nice; but there are still those ones I wasn’t prepared for – like fav movies. XD Too…many…

Well, I can promise that most of Azrael’s issues are Grace’s fault. *pets him* But as for why and how…you get to keep reading. Mwa ha ha ha ha.

Brat would probably think he was weird and greasy.

Reply

“Weird and greasy” huh? It’s a good thing she can’t see him, or else it might ruin her appetite to marry into the Garrott family. The members of that family seem to have a knack for picking up the visually unsavory, what with Gawain (I’m imagining) and Doc Galen and Ricky the TKer and all. Or maybe it’s just Arthur Jr. But Brat wouldn’t be able to avoid him if she married Mordred.

*Settles in to observe the story of Azrael’s mental downfall.*

Yep, Grace is now mah favorite. And he can’t die (as 90% of my favorites do) since ‘e’s already a ghost! :D

Reply

Just for the sake of argument, just because Grace is a ghost doesn’t mean he can’t die (OK maybe he can’t physically die again but) couldn’t a exorcist or high level wizard rip Grace out of the sword and forcibly send him to the afterlife. The could be the same as dieing, for a ghost anyway right?

Reply

That leads to a funny idea… Gawain’s probably picked up a few books-worth of voodoo knowledge… Gawain is Azrael’s Anti-Grace. XD

Not to be dissin’ Grace or anything but I’m getting a slight Voldemort vibe from him o-o;
That and now I’m wandering what Camlann looks like in spirit-form…. :|

Reply

This is a guess, and Liliy can correct me if I’m wrong, but I highly doubt that Camlann has a spirit form, or that he’s capable of seeing Grace – otherwise he’d know that Grace is a male, and not a lady as his name implies. Also, if Camlann had a spirit form, wouldn’t he be more of a cursed sword than a magic talking sword for the pure (good or evil) of heart to wield?

maybe i think too much about stuff like this at quarter to 6 in the morning. xD

Reply

Or maybe Camlann did that on purpose and he’s a wee bit bent? :)
Or it might just be that Camlann is female and was trying to cover up that fact :sly: ? I’ve never met a guy who feels the need to talk as much as Camlann does, but I know lots of girls =D
Random theories…

Loving Grace more every panel! :D

Also, I really want to go through every strip that ever had Azrael talking to Grace, but it appeared he was just crazy, and mentally putting Grace in there.

Though, why does he look at the sword in other strips when the actual ‘ghost’ of Grace is usually somewhere around him, more at eye-level or above?

:lol2: i love the flowers in the back ground! its such an oxymoron to the seriousness of the panles! grace’s eyes are awsome! they add just that much more to his charater

Off Topic Comment: Sorry for breaking the chain of Grace admiration here, but I just ran liliy.net/wam/ through the CodeOrgan, and it ended up playing a long and kind of appealing song. Here: http://www.codeorgan.com/?url=http://liliy.net/wam/

Kudos to Liliy, Mike, and WordPress! The coding of this site makes beautiful music.

OMGOSH! That song fits the comic perfectly! I love it!

Kind of startling how well, huh? It always seems to play in A-minor… it works particularly well when the organ assigns “Piano” or “Organ” and “Drum Loop 9,” but “Strings” clashes a little.

To what loops/instruments did you listen?

he looks very much like what the spirit of a sword would look like in my point of view. Well, except the potato bag jerkin, whats up with that?
