Ben Spent a Lot On Those

Ha ha ha. Grace and Éclat dont’ look like they’re going to be having as much fun as their owners. They’ve had plenty of time to try bonding already and nothing has come of it. *Snickers*

I like how, nonchalant Azræl is about the fact he used to kill people for a living. And he’s ignoring Grace?! Wow, I think that’s a first.

What I’ve learned since meeting Ben and Éclat?
1. I learned how to type the accent above his name so I could type it.
2. The belts wrapped around Éclat’s sword actually have a purpose, e called them magic binding, so I assume it mean as long as they are there, his power is null.
3. Éclat’s power sounds fun but isn’t actually(apparently).
4. That I’m going to like these two very much(and apparently Azzie wants to be friends with Ben)

Reply

it is definitely not the first time Azzie’s ignored grace. he was ignoring him when trying on different shirts!

…..I’ve learned that Ben is adorable. I learned that Eclat and Grace don’t like each other much. I’ve learned that Eclat can face-palm. I’ve learned that belts are magic. (?)
I’ve learned that Azzie is polite to almost everyone.
Uh….

Heee~ =D
I learned that I have a weak spot for shivering people. I want to take Ben home with me. Or hug him. Or both.

…I should go sleep for half an hour or something before going to school, sadly, I can’t do this. Sorry for not making any sense. It’s 6:14 am here…

I THINK I’ve learned that Grace is somewhat afraid of Eclat’s power. The way he reacted when Eclat mentioned the rules and during this page makes it seem like Eclat is stronger than Grace.

Reply

The artifacts recognize each other, know each others powers and hate that they can’t do anything about it… They also seem to hate each other, at least in a sort of brotherly way… Or maybe worse. Hard to tell since they are willing to talk to each other.

Reply

I adore Ben. So so so much. He’s just the cutest thing ever.

I have learned that I act like I’m drunk when my blood sugar dips too low.

Oh wait, did you mean about the comic? I don’t learn from comics, I am too busy loving the crap out of them. Especially this one.

Reply

I have learned that Ben needs lots of hugs, and probably a few days without Éclat hanging around over his shoulder. And I have learned that Éclat is actually a bit more creepy than Grace because he calls Ben “poppet”.

So why do I actually *like* Éclat so much? xD

Reply

Ah excuse me, “puppet”. Though poppet and puppet seem pretty inter-changable….. at least in MY head they do.

Reply

I’ve learnt that the museum staff-person at the counter is female. And that she’s taking her time with Azrael’s job paperwork, which gives Azzie and Ben lots of alone time.

Just thought I’d put in a unique perspective there.
Really enjoying the arc so far! Nice hissy, have a level.

yours truly,
Para

I have learned that Azræl has his own agenda and isn’t as easily swayed by Grace as previously believed.

Reply

I learned that apparently there are no magic-binding sheathes in this world, or else Ben wouldn’t have had to buy so many belts.

Or maybe they’re just really expensive? :curious:

Reply

Would a single magic-binding sheath be more expensive that a dozen or so magic-binding belts?
I wonder if Ben just happened to have them lying around?

Reply

I have learned that there are rules of engagement ragarding the artifacts, but I’m not really sure what they are.

Also, Eclat has pointy incisors. So does Grace, which for some reason never noticed before.

Reply

Since I first saw Ben and Éclat? From the comic I learned that Azrael is either very good at being intimidating without making a direct threat or else he is very bad at being friendly. I also learned of one more person in Liliy’s world for whom possessing a sentient magical item is more of a curse than a blessing–this seems to be a trend.

In real life, I crammed 100 and some of 101 level trig in two days so I could work on a project. I have more to go still after that. Ow my sanity, not even the Book of Eibon was this hard on it.

Reply

I learned that despite how much or how little we know of them, seemingly all of Liliy’s characters are instantly likable. Several, such as Bliss and Wiglaf, would normally be the type of character I’d hate, but they’re so masterfully done, or so well-balanced, or whatever it is about them… I’m immediately enamored with every single member of this ever-expanding cast. Somehow, I find it’s Èclat and especially Ben that prove how excellent the characters in this comic are.

On a side note: Èclat referring to Ben as “Puppet” is Made of Awesome. I’d bet money it’s probably meant in a less-than-affectionate manner, intended to imply Ben’s utter dependency on Èclat. That is win.

i think i’ve learned that…. ben need to lay off the caffine.
or get some help for that nervous twitch of his. XD

Reply

Hmm. I’ve learned that, word-of-god, Camlann is MUCH older than the possessed objects set. That induces elation.

It also infers that magic, despite its apparent dearth everyday usage, is an ongoing phenomenon in the world of TAWM/WAM.

Reply

Where did you learn that? I’m curious, and if you could link me I’d be much obliged. :D

Reply

Logical deduction: Éclat apparently used to be a human being during the French Revolution and Bliss might have been human after that point in time as well. The logical hypothesis to explain that is that magic did not die out during the dark or middle ages.

Reply

Well, word of god liliy did mention during a ustream session that they all were human at one point(hence the pre-orb/sword versions she’s drawn up for them) and are now the artefacts(while still not technically being dead).

I wonder if human Bliss and Éclat ever did meet though?

Reply

Bliss: “Like, y’know, do you think this dress goes with all this crazy jewelery? I wanna show up those other ladies at Versailles because they always think they’re so neat with all their strange fashions like that one woman with the dress and that makes her look like a navy ship. I mean can you imagine? She thought she was so clever and I have to admit it was pretty impressive but she (blahblahblahblahblahblah)…”

Éclat: Beats Bliss’s brains out against the nearest wall, then yells, “Tuez les aristocrates! Détruire l’ancien régime!”

…Bliss apparently hasn’t died yet so I really doubt they met while they were both alive.

Reply

*laughs* That’s a lovely mental image. XD

Reply

Well, we are talking about the time of Robespierre. It would be dishonest to sugarcoat the (sometimes justifiable) violent insanity of the early French revolution.

Of course if you’re just trying to keep the comments section PG-13 and I stomped all over that I can try to censor myself better.

Reply

*Chuckles.* I can just see that if they had met in life. Great extrapolation.

Reply

*bows*
It’s a skill I practiced to be able to do troubleshooting of complex systems. It’s surprising how often it’s useful or entertaining in general life.

Reply

Word of God means it’s something the author/artist(in this case liliy) mentioned. In this case, I believe it was mentioned during a ustream session so, linking won’t work.

Reply

During one of the UStream sessions, I mentioned that Camlann is just cranky (as opposed to some other attribute one of the other swords had) all the time. Liliy said, “Well, he is a lot older than the other artifacts, so he’s earned the right to be annoyed by idiots.”

Reply

I learned that, despite of it not being commonly portrayed, magic is apparently relatively common (and expensive), given that Ben could buy that many belts.
I learned that Éclat’s power is most likely more complex than Grace’s.

I love this thing so much! Thank you thank you thank you for creating this amazing web comic! <333 :D  :lol2:  :ohhyeahh: :P :] :B  :$

Reply

1) I have learned that insanity, at the very least violent sociopathy, seems to be common in magic weapons.

2) Whomever made these weapons is a major jerk.

3)Éclat doesn’t seem to understand loopholes.

Reply

I learned that belts can be used to bind power.
and that Azzy isn’t the best at reasurring people he’s not crazy the moment he meets them… “Have I mentioned I used to kill for a living?” lols XD

Reply

I’ve learned that the enchanted artifacts can talk to each other directly. I don’t know why I thought otherwise, it just never occurred to me.

Also Eclat and Ben are awesome. I learned that.

Reply

I’ve learned that owning/possessing talking magical objects is a pain-in-the-ass and that they should be nuked from orbit just to be sure. :meh:

Reply

We’ve only met… one, two, three, uh… four magical objects that’s true for. What if all the others aren’t total nutjob basket-cases that drive anyone unfortunate enough to cross their paths irreparably insane?

Reply

Something I’ve learned since meeting Ben and Éclat?
- Artifacts can talk to each other but not other owners.

Something I’ve wondered about since meeting Ben and Éclat?
- If Éclat couldn’t tell Ben about Grace’s abilities without Azræl telling Ben Grace’s name, how did Grace tell Azræl about Bliss’ ability to nullify magic?

Reply

Hmm? Grace didn’t tell Azrael anything about Bliss’ power until after Mordred read her information card to Azrael.

Reply

I’ve learned that Azrael, no matter how friendly and reassuring (or perhaps mildly threatening?) he tries to be, comes off as if he’s a sociopathic spoiled ponce. Also.. he has a beautiful Evil Letch face. He’s used it for three pages straight now, though he might also have stolen Security’s expression…

Also, I’ve learned that Grace is a skulky emo boy, and Eclat is a bit stuck up and poncy.

I don’t know if this is new, but I’ve also learned I LOVE seeing the suave evil guy and the shaking nervous new boy… specially when they’re both pretty like Azzy and Ben…

Reply

I’ve learned that Eclat can has a rich 18th-century French heritage and has a taste for empowering timid individuals like Ben.

Reply

I learnt that Belts are stronger then swords and if I ever need to block on I should not bother with proper armour. Either that or Ben is really good at making belts. Maybe he was a tailor in another/this life.

Reply

I learned that, while I feel very sorry for Ben and want to comfort him, I really, truly, /hate/ Éclat.

He’s just the kind of person that I can’t stand (No offense to Liliy!).
