I Just Said That!

For the record, I never had any intention of drawing this plot line out–and this is the first time a page has turned out exactly the way I wanted. WIN. This moment was 6 years in the waiting. When these two were first created, this was the scenario I envisioned for Mordred saying Wiglaf’s name. And it’s happened. Thank you for reading, and staying with me up to this point–you guys are awesome.

And this was posted on an ironic day, actually:

January 18, 2012, aka SOPA/PIPA BLACKOUT DAY

WaM is not participating in the Blackout for a few reasons, even though I definitely do not support SOPA or PIPA in any way. One is what I listed above, I also have advertisers to consider, I’ve already missed two updates this month, and I tend to forget things like turning the site back on on Thursday. Stuff like that.

All you need to remember, is WaM almost didn’t post today at all.

Learn more about the blackout at Wikipedia or any other major site participating.

Keep the internet free and open–and make sure that due process isn’t violated by two ineffective, yet dangerous laws!

Ha ha. In reality, the only thing that Mordred really “hates” right now is the fact that he was left worrying about Wiglaf’s safety. It’s great to see genuine emotion on Mordred’s part as he finally sees Wiglaf alive.

I like Wiglaf’s sudden reappearance after being battered by the explosion, and Mordred being so overwhelmed his face turns color and blots out his eyes. XD The two of them should head home now and get some much-needed rest.

He said it again!! Squee! *dances* And Wiglaf is alive! *refrains from hugtackling and instead dances some more*

Is that a broken leg I see? That he splinted himself? And his shoulder isn’t doing too well… Bliss should be proud. That’s the most damage anyone’s managed to do to Wiglaf to date. It’s kind of amazing he’s coherent, actually.

Now I wonder… is Mordred going to use his name from now on? Just when they’re alone? He did say Lackey just now, but I feel like Mordred’s stubborn facade of apathy has now been cracked irreparably.

Wait, what kind of accent does Mordred have? I can (kind of) imagine Wiglaf’s, but not Mordred’s!

English since he is from England. But, living in the states has, diluted it a lot.

And here I had thought he was always speaking English and not “shudder” American.

Also I think the appropriate word would be either contaminated or submerged since the base language is not and has never been what the Americans refer to as English. The rest I will leave to a professional Linguist to continue with the chastisement. :P

Well whatever the term, he’s spent enough time in the U.S that his English accent isn’t very noticeable according to liliy.

Works that way with any accent really. I’ve got a friend who was from a southern state but sounded like everyone else–until she went to visit family for a couple weeks–came back with the thickest Southern accent. XD Took another week or two for it to fade. I’ve always been fascinated by how that works. <3 So, yes, Mordred's British accent adjusts to his American home…unless he's mad. XD Then it comes back! Whoo!

And it’s still English. The difference between ‘American’ and ‘The Queen’s’ and Australian English all the other varieties of English are all still English, the same as how Mexican/Puerto Rican/Spain/Etc.-Spanish are all Spanish but different. :P Dialects! Hurrah! *throws confetti*

ahhh supposibly according to my linguistics teacher the difference between american english and the queen’s english is how things are pronounced like with butter, in american english butter is pronounced with a d sound and is budder while the queen’s is pronounced properly with the t sound so but-ter. also budder the syllables are closer and said more quickly together.

thats as far as i remember when he spoke of the 2 different english. meh i’m not a very good student to put it simply i guess american english slurs more

Yeah, they’re all dialects. I think the only reason we English people get irritated sometimes is that people who speak American English seem to forget that the language developed in another country. It’s not happened to me personally, but I know of Americans who have said to English friends: ‘wow, your English is so good!’. Which is a tad insulting. So sometimes we get a little uptight about it. But linguistically speaking our language is a mish-mash of several different Germanic, Celtic and Latinate languages, so it’s all rather moot. :) I did love the use of the word ‘arse’, though. Most funny thing I ever heard was an American girl trying to say ‘arse’ for a play. Sounded like a seal when she said it over and over.

The reunion. Auwww… now I’ll surely need A LOT of tissues *somehow manages to combine sniffing with stupid smile :’-)* They’re… just… thank you, Liliy!

Weeeeeeeee!!!! Such a sweet moment!

and Don’t we all love those little bits and pieces that come out of the story that are usually some of the best ones yet we have to wait so long to write?

He was able to splint a broken leg, crawl over after being blasted by a huge town destroying explosion, in that amount of time? With a broken arm?! Awesome….

Reply

All that just to get to Mordred.
They’re so sweet.

Also, Liliy, I think you broke your tagline of “all the teasing, none of the payoff” – for me, this counts as payoff. :D

such a great page! I love in the last two panels the background gets increasingly red as Wiglaf feels the pain.
Oh Mordred, shoulda picked the other shoulder.

Reply

Ohmygosh AH! I’m crying this is so beautiufl sad Mordred just about broke my heart ohmygosh I just oh man they practically HUGGED basically. as much as Mordred could hug someone and as much as Wiggy could hug someone whilst injured horribly just just ohgoshnesss EEE<3

Reply

Soo…. cuute…. I WANT TO HUG THEM BOTH SO BADLY even though that would probably just worsen their injuries.

Also, I love the coloring on Wiglaf, especialy on his injured leg. Amazing! ;)

I know this is weird, but I absolutely love Wiglaf’s hair in this one. I couldn’t even focus on the comic the first read through, his hair was just so perfect

Reply

And some people STILL deny the fact that Wiglaf and Mordred love each-other?

WIGLAF CRAWLED ACROSS A TOWN, WITH A BROKEN LEG, A BROKEN(?) ARM, AND A TON OF CUTS AND BRUISES.

JUST TO GET TO MORDRED. WHO WAS CRYING. BECAUSE HE THOUGHT THAT WIGLAF WAS DEAD.

If that’s not love, then I’m annoying, flying pink ball.

And just when you thought the ‘they could easily be a couple’ vibe had subsided, back it is again. ^_^
If it hadn’t been for Wiglaf’s hurt shoulder this could have been such a cute hugging scene. Mordred might have actually let him for once.

Just read through the entire archive, realized that Wiglaf got STABBED THROUGH THE CHEST BY GRACE (http://liliy.net/wam/archive/semi-sadist/), was apparently not harmed at all by that, and yet suffered severe damage from Bliss’s blast. . . .Clearly Bliss is much more powerful than I gave her credit for.

By the way, how DID Wiglaf survive getting stabbed through the chest?
