Hopefully the bear hit Wiglaf first or Mordred is going to have some very sore ribs.
That’s what it looks like, unless they switched spots at the last minute. I’m kind of surprised the polar bear took them out so easily.
Those things mass/weigh close to a ton. If a car hits you, you go flying. A polar bear is nearly as large as a car, so….
Whoops, double checked my faulty memory. Up to 2/3s of a ton for adult males. From Wikipedia.org (which usually isn’t inaccurate about these things):
“An adult male weighs around 350–680 kg (770–1,500 lb),[4] while an adult female is about half that size.”
So yeah, a fifth of a ton to two-thirds of a ton for an adult polar bear, that’s starting at bigger than both of Wiglaf & Mordred together and goes up a lot from there. Still easily large enough to knock the two off a slippery cliff. (And the cliff must be slippery because they didn’t freeze to the iceberg when they sat down).
Wiglaf has super strength… what’s the point of “super strength” if you can’t take a hit from a polar bear? XD

Ah, Wiglaf. Self-sacrificing hero. Apparently other-sacrificing hero, too, where it comes to villainous friends. Does this mean we get a reprise of “Hiking Fun” with Mordred sitting on Wiglaf as our hero swims for shore?
Interesting angles on a polar bear, Liliy. I can honestly say I don’t think that a webcomic artist has used that sort of progression of perspectives on that subject before. Nice work.
Not only is Wiglaf a perfect hero, he’s also apparently an example of the environmentally conscious, wildlife-conservation-minded citizen. XD With polar bears, icebergs and cold water, Liliy is doing a great job of causing trouble for this pair. I can’t wait to see what she has planned for them next. :D

Theory!
The polar bear (whom shall be known as Nanook) is really the guardian of the iceberg!

Nanook had no knowledge of her great destiny until, on a bright and cloudless day, a pack of hunters invaded Nanook’s territory and tried to capture her, these were the same hunters that had stolen Nanook’s fish and seals so Nanook became angry and went to confront the hunters. The hunters did not like the sight of a polar bear coming at them and so they threatened Nanook with their guns. At this Nanook became even angrier, so angry that she unleashed the mighty polar bear punch and vanquished the hunters. Marinus, a polar bear that often followed Nanook and spied on her, saw this and recognized it as a sign that Nanook is the Great Bear of the prophecy. Marinus, never being able to keep a secret immediately ran off to tell the other bears of Nanook’s mighty punching powers and soon it was decided that Nanook would make the pilgrimage to the sacred iceberg.
When Nanook was first informed of what the others had concluded she was skeptical, after all, she was no different from any other bear, but she eventually relented to the demands of the others and agreed to go on the pilgrimage. After many hardships and trials Nanook reached the sacred iceberg which had traveled along the edge of the arctic since time untold and began her meditation.
On the thirteenth day a great presence filled Nanook’s heart and a voice rang clear in her mind. The voice, known as ísanda, was the spirit of the iceberg, and on that day a deep bond was created between ísanda and Nanook as they set out to find a new land, far to the south, where the ice stretched far and food is plentiful. They do this so that they may one day return to the arctic and take all polar bears to this new land so that they may live without hunger and fear of hunters.
Since then ísanda has traveled the world with Nanook as her faithful protector, any ship, creature or strange blonde human who would dare seek to harm ísanda is immediately dealt with by Nanook’s legendary polar bear punch.
