NekoCon 13

Whoo hoo~ Another Nekocon come & Gone. Only this year I actually talked to people. Hurrah! XD Con Breakdown is now a go!

Friday

I got lucky on Friday. I got to the convention around 12:30pm and basically walked over and registered. I was done registering myself and my brother in less than ten minutes. I can’t remember the last time that’s happened at a convention. Good timing. So anyway, I mostly hung around the Tamuran booth and bothered them as a pest in general save for the few moments I wandered away when they got busy. Even picked up the first issue of their comic & I got a button of the Tree Creature. Glee.

Tamuran Issue 1

Button, button, Whose got the button? I do.

The cute buttons of Ed & Al from Fullmetal Alchemist I got from the TechnoAngel booth next door. & The little Annie button of course came from Megami of Annie. So, a fun social day. XD

Saturday

The busy day of the con was of course, busy. I arrived with my brother (for once, I cosplayed – even if I was just dressed up in my renaissance bar wench outfit XD) and we wandered about. We hit the dealer’s room & artist alley before checking out the awesome AMV competition. All of the videos were really good this year. I was rather impressed.

Around three o’clock I was back at the Tamuran booth where I snuck behind the line & Erin and I played Kip’s Theme (Me on Violin, Erin on Guitar). After that we just played some folks songs and had a blast more or less. And as I stated over at WaM, Humi paid us a visit and I gave out my first autograph. XD So lots of fun there too.

My Saturday Swag:

Swag

Lookie!

Everything except for the Al Keychain came from a random grab box. My bro gave me the keychain. (which is fair considering I bought him two Yoko Figurines. XD). But most importantly – I got a France Hetalia Keychain. I couldn’t make up my mind which one I wanted so I let the box decide for me. Happiness~ *hugs France*

Sexy France

Edit: Also. My brother and I actually went to the Phoenix Wright Mock Trial this year. It was hilarious and I’m glad we went an hour early to get in line. The place was PACKED. Quite literally every seat was filled in the room. So fun stuff there and Frannie’s hair was pink XD

Sunday

And this morning. After church & lunch with the folks, my brother and I headed back for one last walk-around the dealer’s room and artist alley.

My last purchase of the con was the first volume of Winters in Lavelle. As I told Kasey (the author) I see her advertising on WaM all the time…and since I never had time to go click through her archive I just picked up the book. And she was super nice and we had a quick convo with Erin (who was there coincidentally when I went to grab the book XD) and yet again I was told to get a freaking table…it’s a conspiracy I tell you!

Anyway; she signed the book and drew a cute sketch of the heroine. XD

And that ended yet another successful con. Lots of fun & got to meet a few new authors and fans. Yay!! *throws confetti*

Scorpion Bracelet~

Ha ha. I was texting my buddy Sean/Creid and mentioned I was distracted by my new bracelet and he laughed.

So I took a pic to share since txting didn’t do it justice.

Beyhold the bracelet I got for $7.49 while shopping with my mother (and if it tells you anything, even Mom admitted that the bracelet looked like me  XD):

Scorpion Bracelet

My phone doesn’t have a great Macro – so you also get to see:

  • My orange glittery nails (for Halloween~)
  • Alfred Figure (From This Con Haul if he looks familiar)
  • My mini pumpkin (well one of them…there’s another one on my computer box & I’ve got three more at home not counting the ones on my porch…<3 Mini Pumpkins.)
  • My Work station! You can even see my dual monitors where I do my lovely Cad work…though right now I have REVIT up on the screen. Wheeeee Revit. *sarcasm* I’d like that program; I would – if it didn’t crash so often. *_* Curse not having a machine to keep up with it.
  • I digress.
  • The Bracelet – it’s a tiny dead Scorpion encased in plastic. So cute.

You all enjoy the random? I did.  :D

Roy II Got Hot…ter.

Random post is random…my poor blog was wanting some love.

And Okay, so I know I haven’t had time to talk about my Disney Trip yet with KGJ/CageyJay (no time this month XD) but I did FINALLY get one of my souveniers out of the bag and serving it’s intended purpose.

But first – a quote:

“[Liliy], you have always loved Jessica Rabbit and it’s something I’ve never understood but have come to accept.”

Well, it may not be exact but ‘Jay said it. XD

And it’s true. Jessica Rabbit has been one of my favorite female characters/actresses for as long as I can remember from the first moment I saw her on my television on the Disney channel playing an edited version of Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

So…when shopping we happened to run across a vinyl window decal of her in a store & I knew I had to have it and it needed to be on my car.

So now it is:

Jessica Rabbit Vinyl

You have no idea how giddy it makes me to have that on my car. Almost as the same as when I realized ‘Jay had bought me a hand drawn sketch of the woman on our last trip there together. XD

Anyway. Finally had something I really wanted to share with you all…and now that’s done – I can go draw WaM like a good girl. XD

Twilight Saga – Breaking Dawn (Book 4)

Well, went to a wedding today and that two hour drive gave me just enough time to finish reading the forth Twilight novel. Hurrah~

I don’t actually have that much to say. Despite this book being disliked by even the fans, to be perfectly honest I enjoyed it. It’s finally reached the point of ridiculous in Twilight that I found the book amusing at the very least.

Mostly, just a lot happened. Bella & Edward get married; she becomes a vampire, vampire kiddie and of course the much acclaimed missed moment of awesome when the final battle of the series is…a chat. Etc.

Of course there were the bits that were annoying (read: Bella the ultimate Mary Sue with her perfection in everything from the birth, to handling being a vampire, to mastering her skills at the end, blah blah blah – or the total cop out at the ending. I’m sorry; but it was a cop-out and if you read it you’ll probably agree.) but there were its fun moments.

I’ll admit to laughing when Bella went psycho on Jacob after realizing he nicknamed Renesmee “Nessie” – and thought that despite all the crazy over Jacob imprinting on a little kid it was actually kinda cute. I mean, the kid had the maturity of an adult already so it wasn’t as noticeable as it could have been.

Let’s see. All the characters I liked lived, so there’s that too I suppose.

This is probably the least informative/rant worthy review, but honestly I didn’t have that much to rant about. Let’s face it – I’ve read worse. I really have. I’ve willingly read fanfiction that has a worse plot and even worse writing so for comparisons sake it wasn’t that bad.

And before I forget – about a forth of the book was from Jacob’s point of view dealing with him and his pack and I’ve thought that side of the story was interesting from the second book. Leah & Seth were fun and even seeing Jacob reluctantly bond with Edward was fun. Especially when Edward was freaking out over the pregnancy and admitted that if “having puppies” was safer for Bella he’d go for it. Particularly funny when Jacob thought about what that meant.

Either way, I’ll still end up seeing the double feature that comes out for this book & will probably like it.

Conclusion for the Twilight Series:

Could have been worse. I’m probably throwing myself into the ‘fan’ category as long as we’re acknowledging that it’s mostly a guilty pleasure. XD

Either way – my advice? Read it for yourself and make your own opinion….

And I do like the movies. Heh.

Writing Analysis Fun

Friend of mine posted this fun little meme/quiz/thing and I had to try it. XD

But basically it analyzes your writing and tells you…who you write like.

1) Using a scene from my latest Transformer Fanfic (Starscream x Megatron if you’re curious xD):

I write like
Harry Harrison

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

2) Scene from my Watchmen/Freddy Krueger Crossover:

I write like
Kurt Vonnegut

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

3) And last but not least – A scene from a Batman fanfic featuring Jonathan Crane & An OC character. XD

I write like
Chuck Palahniuk

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

It’s fun that I got three different authors on three different times…and I have no heard of any of them before. XD Yay?

Ah well, killed a few minutes. XD
